Dear ATBC Community,
We are excited to announce that in celebration of ATBC’s 60th Anniversary, we are inviting proposals for webinars, discussion panels, online workshops, and online short courses to be held in the coming months.
Proposals can cover a wide range of topics related to tropical biology and conservation, including, but not limited to:
- Biodiversity Conservation
- Climate Change and its Impacts on Tropical Ecosystems
- Ecosystems management and Restoration
- Ecological Interactions and Processes
- Social, Cultural, and Economic Dimensions of Tropical Conservation
- Challenges and Opportunities in Tropical Science and Conservation
In your proposal, please include a title, a brief abstract, a list of potential speakers or workshop instructors, as well as the preferred dates for hosting the event. Webinars should be no longer than 1 hour, discussion panels no longer than 1.5 hours, and workshops/courses can be either half-day or full-day events. For workshops and short courses, please also provide a tentative program.
Proposals can be submitted individually or by teams. Collaborative proposals are highly encouraged. If submitting as a team, please have the team leader submit the proposal on behalf of the whole team.
All proposals will be evaluated by an ad-hoc committee based on the following criteria:
- Relevance to the theme for tropical biology and conservation
- Potential to engage and inform the ATBC community
- Quality of proposal and proposed speakers/instructors
- Feasibility and innovation of the proposed activity
- Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) considerations
All activities will be held online between August 2023 and July 2024.
Please submit your proposals no later than July 15th, 2023.
