Scientific Writing Workshop for Early-Career Tropical Biologists

The ATBC Africa, Neotropical, and Asia-Pacific Chapters, together with the Mentoring, Networking and Education Committee, invite student members, postdocs, and early-career scientists to apply for a six-session online workshop on scientific writing and publishing.

The workshop is interactive and built around your own manuscript, thesis chapter, or proposal. It combines short presentations, discussion, and practical exercises, and closes with a panel of journal editors.

Mondays and Fridays, 15:00–16:00 UTC

  • Nov 2: Becoming a productive writer
  • Nov 6: Finding your story and structuring a paper
  • Nov 9: Crafting compelling introductions
  • Nov 13: Discussion and synthesis
  • Nov 16: Writing with clarity and flow
  • Nov 20: Panel with subject editors

Who can apply

Current ATBC members who are students, postdocs, or early-career scientists, have an active writing project, and can commit to attending all six sessions. Spots are limited. Participants will be selected for diverse geographic and career-stage representation.

Participants who attend at least five sessions will receive a certificate of completion.
