FACULTY OF SCIENCE – SCHOOL OF PLANT BIOLOGY
- 5 year appointment
- Salary range: Level B $93,182 – $110,654 p.a.
The School of Plant Biology seeks to recruit a Lecturer in Plant Ecology (Ecosystem Change Ecology, Invasion Science and/or Restoration Ecology) to contribute to our teaching, research training and research. The appointee will be a joint appointment between UWA and The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), with an equal share of time to be devoted to both institutions and their activities.
We are seeking a highly motivated person with enthusiasm and commitment to excellence in research, research student training (PhD and MSc) and coursework teaching (Master and Undergraduate levels). The successful candidate will join a strong group of Ecologists with diverse interests at UWA and CSIRO. Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant discipline and a track record, relative to opportunity, for: research funding success, publication outputs, research impact, student project supervision and capacity for coursework teaching with focus on student-experience and learning. Experience in collaboration with industry partners is highly desirable.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:
- Relevant PhD qualifications in plant ecology, with demonstrated quantitative skills and research experience aligned with the proposed research program
- Ability for excellence in research and research impact, including scientific journal publications, in the area of plant ecology or related disciplines
- Ability for successful postgraduate research student supervision and some experience in supervision of student project work
- Ability for successful coursework teaching with focus on the student experience, and a keenness to contribute to curriculum design
- Leadership skills and ability to effectively manage collaborations within a multi-organisation and multi-disciplinary environment, including well- developed organisational and communication skills
- Understanding of Health & Safety risk assessments and planning as related to the workplace, including field-based research
