ATBC Meetings
ATBC’s annual meetings bring together the global tropical biology community to share research, build partnerships, and spark new ideas. Each conference is a space for learning, connection, and celebrating the diversity of our field. On this page, you’ll find information about upcoming events and highlights from past meetings.
Join us for the 63rd Annual Meeting of the Association for Tropical Biology and Conservation (ATBC), to be held in Libreville, Gabon — a city at the heart of the Congo Basin, one of the most biodiverse and ecologically critical regions on Earth.
Under the theme “Tropical ecosystem resilience at the crossroads of a changing planet, policy, and conservation,” ATBC2027 will bring together scientists, students, conservation professionals, policymakers, and Indigenous communities from around the world. Together, we will explore recent advances in tropical biology and conservation, exchange transformative ideas, and underscore the essential role of tropical ecosystems in building a resilient and sustainable future.
Hosted by the National Center for Scientific and Technological Research (CENAREST), the Congo Basin Institute (CBI), and the One Forest Vision initiative (OFVi), ATBC2027 will take place at the Omar Bongo Ondimba Convention Center in Libreville — June 20–25, 2027. Gabon, with over 80% of its territory covered by forest and a long-standing commitment to conservation leadership in Africa, offers an exceptional setting to advance science-based dialogue on biodiversity, climate resilience, and sustainable futures for tropical regions worldwide.
We warmly invite you to Libreville, where the forests of Central Africa, cutting-edge science, and a global community of tropical biologists come together to shape the future of our planet.

Our annual meetings aim to catalyze the exchange of knowledge and collaboration among scientists, decision makers, educators, and social actors working in the Tropical regions of the World. The Association for Tropical Biology and Conservation hosts annual meetings at different locations each year. At those conferences, dozens of symposia, oral and poster presentations, panel discussions and debates provide diverse perspectives on critical issues in tropical biology and conservation. Workshops, courses, mentoring circles, thematic group gatherings, mentoring circles, and a variety of field trips, among others, are also organized. Our meetings are invigorated by fruitful interactions with colleagues, old friends, and new collaborators, mentees and mentors. Around 50% of the delegates are usually undergraduate and graduate students, showing off the great “regenerative potential” of ATBC.
