Paid intern position to coordinate the 2016 International Day of Action for Rivers

International Rivers is looking for a paid intern to coordinate the 2016 International Day of Action for Rivers. March 14th has served as the Brazilian Day of Action Against Dams for decades, and was adopted as the International Day of Action Against Dams and for Rivers, Water and Life at the First International Meeting of Dam-Affected People in Curitiba in 1997.

Since 1997, International Rivers has served as the international coordinator of Day of Action for Rivers events around the world. Each year so far we’ve seen more than 90 actions from at least 40 countries.

International Rivers and the Day of Action Coordinator play a necessary role in solidarity building among river protection and dam-affected communities, and in communicating the global importance of river protection. The Coordinator will be responsible for clearly and effectively communicating about Day of Action for Rivers through news media, blogs, emails, and social media; providing information to partner organizations and activists around the world; encouraging engagement through soliciting stories and video from supporters; curating content on our website and media outlets; and organizing and archiving all content.
