Position Description
The Department of Biology in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Miami invites exceptional ornithologists to apply for the Robert E. Maytag Chair of Ornithology.
In addition to being outstanding, internationally recognized scientists passionate about avian research, applicants must be excellent teachers with strong commitments to undergraduate and graduate education.
Applications will be considered at the ranks of Associate Professor (tenure-eligible) and Professor (tenure-eligible) with an expected start date of August 15, 2026.

Qualifications
Candidates must:
Hold a Ph.D. in Biology or a related field
Have a strong record of ornithological research accomplishments
Demonstrate evidence of research funding
The successful candidate will be expected to:
Maintain a vigorous, externally funded research program
Teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, including regularly teaching a course in ornithology
Be engaged actively in service to the department, the university, and the profession
