The application of sound science in conservation and policy is an essential prerequisite for effective resource management. The ATBC explores pathways by which science can best inform policy and management at local, national, regional, and global levels.

Our Declarations seek to influence specific local or regional conservation issues and focus on issues relevant to the host country of each of our annual meetings.

Our Resolutions relate to general conservation issues of urgent concern and of global relevance to tropical ecosystems and dependent livelihoods.

Our Conservation Committee fosters an understanding of current key conservation issues and conflicts, and proposes feasible ways of addressing them.
