In 2006 the ATBC launched an Asia-Pacific Chapter to help promote tropical biology and conservation in the region. The chapter held a very successful inaugural conference in March 2007 at Mahabalipuram, India and will continue to hold annual regional meetings. The chapter is also supporting training activities in the region, such as graduate field courses, and workshops associated with the annual meetings. All ATBC members from the Asia-Pacific region are automatically members of the chapter, and other ATBC members interested in joining can do so by selecting the Asia-Pacific Chapter on your ATBC profile.
With a new team of Executive Board and Country Representatives elected in 2023, the chapter is currently redesigning its strategic plan, to ensure it can engage successfully across the region, and tailor our activities and training to best meet the needs of the region, particularly in these challenging times of restricted travel. We aim to work with institutions across the region to provide a diverse set of training opportunities in addition to those offer during annual meetings.
We welcome your ideas and energy in developing future activities! Please contact the Asia-Pacific Chapter Executive Board if you are keen to be involved!
