Professor Paulo Sérgio Moreira Carvalho de Oliveira was President of the Association for Tropical Biology (1999) and received the Zeferino Vaz Award for Academic Recognition (2001) at Universidade Estadual de Campinas. He has served as Subject Editor of Biotropica (1998-1999, 2002-2004) and Ad hoc referee of over 40 international journals.
Professor Paulo Sérgio Moreira Carvalho de Oliveira is an expert in the Natural History, Ecology, and Behavior of Tropical Ants. His investigations are divided into three main areas: (1) Ant-plant-herbivore interactions; (2) Behavioral ecology of ants; and (3) Ant-seed interactions. He wrote and edited two books:
